As part of a Mowag Piranha III crewman’s course troopers from the Cavalry Corps put their CRV’s (Close Reconnaissance Vehicles) and MRV’s (Medium Reconnaissance Vehicles) to the test. The primary focus of the course was for troopers being deployed overseas to Chad as part of the Cavalry troop.
The culmination of the course was a series of live fire exercises with the troop in attack. There were various different scenarios including day and night in order to perfect the trooper’s drills.
“Troops are required to conduct drills they may have to do on operations in a hostile environment, be it in Chad or any other Area of Operations,” said Capt John Tynan, “two vehicles will move forward providing over watch while two other vehicles assault onto positions.”
